The main building of today's Maacher Primary School - formerly known as the Primary School - is located on Kop(p)gewan; this is the name of the floor, presumably because it was a little higher up and only Gewan was located there. The school building was constructed between 1919 and 1921 (architect: Jos. Jentgen, Luxembourg, contractor: Mathias Guill de Maacher). This proud edifice cost 2 million francs at the time.

5 November 1922 - it was a Sunday! - the new school was solemnly inaugurated in the presence of many ‘notables’, including the ‘Directeur Général’ (Minister of Education) Joseph Bech and the Mayor of Maach, Antoine Wagner. The 2 music creators were also present. In the ‘Obermoselzeitung’, which was actually published in Maacher a few days later, a ‘school palace’ - with bright, spacious rooms, central heating, baths and showers as well as large farmhouses for boys and girls, (who in those days were strictly segregated!) - was written about.

Route du Centenaire, which leads directly to the school, was built after 1937 and its name commemorates the 100 years of Luxembourg's independence (1839-1939). But the street in front of the school (now known as Schoulstroos), and probably also the ‘rue des Tanneurs’ (or because of this the ‘Gierwergruef’ on the ‘Précoce’ side), already existed.

On 25 September 1925, the first wine market was held in the corridor of the new school. For decades, until 2002, the corridors and halls of the building were used for the spring wine market.

During the Second World War, the school, which also had a flat for the caretaker, was badly damaged both inside and out. The damage, which cost over CHF 100,000, was of course repaired. But on the façade of the building, the traces of the attacks have been visible for decades.

In May 2002, the town council voted to modernise and extend the primary school. Architect Maacher Jean-Marie Kugener was in charge of the project, and from 2003 to 2009 a new sanitary block, additional classrooms, a conference room for teachers, a craft, multi-purpose and music room, a school kitchen and a beautiful school library were to be created. The complete renovation of the old building was also part of the project, which was carried out in 3 phases without interrupting the school's operations and which, according to the estimate, cost 5.4 million euros.

In the 90s, a concept was discussed for a long time to extend the building, because Maacher had become much bigger in the meantime and therefore many more children entered primary school. Nothing came of this expansion either. In the meantime, a new kindergarten had been built in the small courtyard where the pavilions used to be. Today, the nursery school is housed in this building. On 6 May 2004, the foundation stone for a modern, spacious kindergarten was laid in Centenaire-Strasse. ‘Maacher Schoul, Maacher Schoul: look at the old building - now it's beautiful and new’. We waited a long time, everyone did their best. Hi Maker! Long live our school!’ sang 250 enthusiastic girls and boys and their teachers on Tuesday 19 May 2009, at the inauguration of the beautiful new Maacher Primary School. The 18-stanza song, which also tells the story of the school, was written especially for the occasion. And Mayor Robert Stahl spoke on the day of a second ‘school palace’.

Over the past 2 years, the 2 school playgrounds have also received new carpet and have been modernised, so that they now fit in perfectly with the beautiful building. Great ‘toys’, as Mayor Leon Gloden said in July 2014 at the opening of the ‘little playground’, make sure it's fun to go to recess or free time on the playgrounds of this beautiful ‘primary school’ play.
